Other Requirements
Transition Plan
  • The Allentown School District Board of Directors has determined that in preparation for post- secondary experiences, 100% of ASD secondary students will complete a post-secondary transition plan. The Allentown School District believes that the transition plan process is a necessary and supportive framework for students and their families to make the best choices for their educational experiences while at the secondary level.
    • The transition plan will be required to include maintenance of a career portfolio and college/career presentations/workshops/experiences.
    • Eligible students with IEPs will follow the legal guidelines of IDEA §300.43, specifically addressing the transition activities as per this requirement.
  • Upon graduating ASD students will have a post-secondary college and career portfolio that includes an autobiographical essay and a resume highlighting a student’s academic achievement, extracurricular activities, leadership experience, community and civic service.
  • All ASD graduation requirements must be met by students enrolled in the ESOL program. Transcripts from other countries will be reviewed when students arrive in the district, and wherever possible, credit will be granted for courses for which there is an equivalent. These credits will count toward fulfillment of the graduation requirement.
