Student Announcements

*Attention class of 2022. The first meeting of the year will be Tuesday Sept 10in Room F1. New members are welcome.
*Attention all students and staff. The class of 2022 is selling breast cancer awareness tshirt. The shirts will be on sale until 9/20, please see class officer or Ms. Poole or Mr. Shumate in F1 to order your shirt. Shirts are $10 for short sleeve and $15 for long sleeve.
*Attention Juniors. The Class of 2021 will hold their first meeting on Tuesday, September 10 at 2:45 in Room A-23. We hope to see you there!
*Attention Seniors: Please visit the College & Career Center as soon as possible to get a permission slip to visit DeSales University on September 26.
*Looking for a great way to get involved and have fun. Come out to the first Student Council meeting of the year on Thursday Sept. 12th at 2:45 in D-8.
*Spittin' Truth, Dieruff's spoken word poetry artists, will be meeting for the first time this year THIS THURSDAY, September 12 after school in Mr. Boyd's room, A-22. This meeting is for returning members AND new members. If you have an interest in poetry, rap or rhyme--stop by!
*The Chess Club will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays after school in room A7.
*An important meeting will be held for the Gay-Straight Alliance on September 10 at 2:45 in Room A-13. Everyone is welcome! Please bring a friend for the GSA's opening meeting on Tuesday.
*Do you love to watch anime? Do you like reading manga? Then come check out the Anime Club! We meet every Friday after school in room B-10. New people are always welcome!
*Any student interested in joining the STAR Club, can sign up in Room A20 with Mrs. Zughbi.
*Any student interested in running for a class officer position must attend a mandatory meeting on Tuesday 9/17 at 2:45 in the Media Center. See your Class advisor for more details or with questions.

The Louis E. Dieruff High School is one of three high schools located in the city of Allentown. 
The richness of The Allentown School District's diversity is strengthened by its central role in educating our students for America's future through academic excellence and celebrating the culturally responsive, athletic and artistic range of talent in the schools. ASD students originate from 51 countries and speak 26 languages. There are twenty-five academic buildings throughout the City. 

During the 2016-2017 school year, the district enrolled 16,628 students across 15 Elementary & Early Childhood Centers (7,976), 4 Middle Schools (3,421) and 3 High Schools (5,231).  The Allentown School District has 2,429 personnel.

89.1% of our families are denoted as Low Income, and 100% receive Free/Reduced Lunch.  ASD is the third largest urban school system out of 500 Districts in the Commonwealth and serves a community with a poverty rate of 38.64% of the City's population. (2013 Census).
