Allentown School District Presents Updated Designs for Family & Community Resource Center

Allentown, PA – October 27, 2025 –  On Thursday, October 25, 2025, the Allentown School District School Board of Directors received an update on the progress and design plans for the highly anticipated Family & Community Resource Center. The Center will be located on the campus of  Bridgeview Academy, will serve as a hub for family and community engagement, providing centralized enrollment, health, and workforce development services to Allentown School District staff, students, and families.

The purpose of the Center is to transform community engagement and empower families by bringing essential services together under one roof. The District has secured $522,205 in grant funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Multi-Purpose Community Facilities Competitive Grant Program to support construction and programming.

“The Family & Community Resource Center reflects our commitment to empower families by aligning education, health, and workforce development resources that strengthen the entire Allentown community,” said Superintendent/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Carol D. Birks. “This project directly advances and reinforces our vision outlined in our Strategic Plan: Lighting the Way: A Blueprint for Innovation and Excellence 2030.”

The design incorporates accessible entrances on both Union Street and Lehigh Street, with updated renderings featuring a welcoming main lobby, enrollment and registration center, healthcare suite, and multipurpose meeting rooms. During the presentation, architects provided more detailed insights into the services that will be provided and how each of these spaces has been intentionally designed to meet the needs of the Allentown Learning Community.

The district’s design and construction team is advancing the project with a targeted completion date of December 2026. A groundbreaking celebration will be scheduled in Spring 2026.
