My Brother's Keeper Honors Dieruff Senior
My Brother's Keeper
My Brother’s Keeper, Lehigh Valley, presented their Annual African American Educational Excellence Awards on February 28 and two Allentown School District students were among the honorees. The Outstanding Academic Achievement is given to college and high school students who have outstanding achievement in the classroom and community. The ASD students who were presented with this award are:
  • Aaron Williams, senior, Dieruff
  • Josiah Stuart, senior, William Allen
Aaron is an active member of the National Honor Society and coordinated the school’s annual Blood Drive. His school course load includes four Advanced Placement courses and a Dual Enrollment in English.
In addition to his academic successes, Aaron is the Editor-in-Chief for the Louis E. Dieruff News Magazine and a member of the school’s Cross Country/Track and Field Team. He aspires to major in Political Science, with a minor in African Studies and has already been accepted to Pennsylvania State University (Main Campus) and Kutztown University. Aaron maintains a part time job and helps at home where he is one of eight children.

In all, four students were honored, including one from Roberto Clemente and one Lincoln Leadership Academy.

My Brother’s Keeper hosts this event in February in honor of Black History Month. The purpose of the Award’s event is to recognize African American educators and students who have demonstrated a commitment to educational mentoring and academic achievement. The My Brother’s Keeper program states, “Our hope is that by recognizing and celebrating those who have achieved academically, we can encourage thousands of minority students in the Valley to follow in those historical footsteps by striving for educational excellence.”

Congratulations to all the winners.
